Rafael Cossent es Investigador en el Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica (IIT) de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería ICAI de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas, donde fue coordinador del Área de Redes Inteligentes Sostenibles entre 2016 y 2021. Además de su actividad investigadora, es Codirector de la Cátedra de Estudios sobre el Hidrógeno y anteriormente ha sido coordinador de la Cátedra BP de Energía y Sostenibilidad. Asimismo, desarrolla labores de docencia en el área de la regulación de actividades de red en el sector eléctrico. Rafael es Ingeniero Industrial por la Universidad Pontificia Comillas y Doctor en Ingeniería Eléctrica por la misma universidad. A lo largo de su carrera ha participado en más de 60 proyectos de investigación y consultoría relacionados con la regulación y economía del sector eléctrico, la integración de generación renovable y distribuida, movilidad eléctrica, redes eléctricas inteligentes y la descarbonización y transición energética. Ha publicado más de 60 artículos en revistas y conferencias nacionales e internacionales en estos temas. Ha sido investigador visitante en INESC (Oporto-Portugal) y la Universidad Heriot-Watt (Edimburgo-Escocia). Entre 2011 y 2019 colaboró de manera habitual en el programa de formación online en materia de energía de la Florence School of Regulation.
