Alfonso Fernández del Hoyo is a tenured Professor of International Marketing, Innovation and Analytics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in Comillas Pontifical University. He holds a PhD from Comillas Doctoral School in 2001, a MBA from Babson Olin Graduate School in 1989, a BA from ICADE in 1982 and, most recently, a PEBA (Program in Executive Business Analytics) from IBS in 2020. From 2018 until February 2024, he served as the Director of the Marketing Department. Prior to this role, he was the Director of the master’s in International Project Management-Gestamp (2015-2018) and Deputy Director and Director of the ICADE-E4 Degree (2007-2009). Recently he has been appointed as the Academic Sponsor of the Marketing Alumni Club at Comillas University. As a researcher, he has authored more than 20 articles and books in prestigious publishing houses like Pirámide and journals such as the Journal of Cultural Heritage and Computers & Industrial Engineering, among others. His teaching career began with an assistantship at Babson College (1989) and later part-time courses at Suffolk University (1996-1999) and Syracuse University (2000-2002) before joining Comillas-ICADE on a full-time basis. His professional experience includes roles as Director of the Agri-Food Sector at ICEX (Instituto de Comercio Exterior de España), Deputy Director of Marketing at AGF (Assurances Générales de France), and Consultant at SIAR (Scandinavian Institute for Administrative Research). He has lived in the USA, Cameroon, and France, and frequently visits other universities for conferences and seminars, including TEC de Monterrey in Mexico, CECO-ICEX and Loyola in Spain, ICESI in Colombia, and Università di Pavia in Italy.
